Helmet

This cosplay started with the helmet. I bought the pattern here. After I had the main helmet built, I brushed out some thick yarn to make the plume and glued it into the opening with a cardboard support inside.

Cuirass

I modified the pattern found under Cosmonaut's comment here. Mostly I just redrew a few pieces including the back and neck and combined a few pieces. There's also a fan mounted to the inside of the chest to keep me cool.

Fun fact: When in Raleigh, I sat this on the back of my car and the wind blew it away. My girlfriend and I were unable to find it anywhere, so I made a second one after coming home.

Shoulders

The shoulders were also modified from the template linked in the cuirass. The second, third, and fourth layers were made by laying masking tape over the main part then drawing on it.

Elbows and Gauntlets

The elbows were straight from the template from the cuirass section. The gauntlets and bicep pieces were drawn from a masking tape pattern of my arm. Straps were added to the elbows so that they nested over the gauntlets. The bicep pieces are connected just under the shoulders.

Legs

The templates for the thighs and shins were made off of masking tape patterns of my legs. The knees were from the provided template

Shoes

The shoes were made by covering a pair with cling wrap an duct tape and drawing the template onto the tape. I also added nylon straps to attach the front and elastic straps to hold the bottom on.

Misc

The chainmail is shelf liner and is connected with a small clip. The emblems on the belt were drawn, then glued to the foam and I cut through the paper into the foam. I don't have and pre-paint pictures of the faulds, but I redrew them from the template and connected each piece with nylon strapping. The very top of the faulds snap to the cuirass.

Sword

The template was made by PhantomPapercraft on Etsy. I laid the blade pattern out over three sheets of foam and traced the main shape on the outside and where the bevels would be on the inside. I carved a channel for the bevels and glued it together. Next, I glued in a pvc pipe and stepped it down to a smaller pipe, eventually going to a wooden dowel. I assembled the guard pieces on top of the blade and used scraps of foam to fill out the hexagonal bit. For the extra details on the guard I made a masking tape pattern. To make the engraved details, I drew them on a sheet of paper and glued them to the sword, then cut through the paper. For the pommel I made a cone shape with a ring out of worbla.

Painting

Everything was done in bright silver and sealed with crystal clear enamel.

Weathering

For the weathering, I mixed black paint and water and covered the armor in it. After fifteen to twenty minutes I wiped off what hadn't dried yet to reveal all the details. For the sludge I used black hot glue.

Fabric

For the shoulder cape, I made a rectangle long enough to cover my front and back and cut a hole for my head in the middle. Next I sewed a hood and liner to it. For the pattern I printed it at full size then cut it out with an x-acto knife. I used the paper left as a mask and mixed some paint with fabric medium and painted on 3 layers. The shirt was a basic black long sleeve that I made for my Lich King cosplay. The skirt was made of the same fabric as the cape and I drew the pattern based on my reference. For the gloves I used what I refer to as the hand turkey method.

Thank you for reading my build log for Artorias. It was a lot of fun to make and I had a great time cosplaying as him. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me through email or social media.
